: If you want to see the sights, that is great. I just dont think that that should be a factor in site selection. Rapid City had some good sightseeing areas. So will Niagara Falls if the 99' convention is there(I hope). The fact that these areas have places to go and things to see should be an added bonus, not a factor in choosing the site.
Although it shouldn't be the deciding factor,
I agree that the tourist attractions should be
one of the secondary factors. I can't take enough
vacations to see all of the country that I'd like
to see, so it's great to be able to combine the
festival with a few days of siteseeing.
I would love to go to New Orleans for the festival,
and think Primm is a very bad idea because it repeats the
winterfest site. By the same logic, Montreal is bad
because it repeats a previous site. I *loved* the Montreal
festival, and the big draw for me was the tourist potential.
So note my vote for New Orleans, and please please please
stop repeating festival sites.
