: The Karl Heinz deal was established in I believe 1989 by the then
: board and since that time the IJA has picked up his tab, no one else.
Woah! Did the IJA actually agree to provide Karl Heinz with a free trip from Germany every year for the rest of his life? If so, that's quite a financial commitment. Much as I like and respect KHZ, his contribution to IJA festivals aren't that great. He neither performs nor teaches workshops, he's not a big draw to attract other people to attend, and he rarely even brings those cool videos along. The fact that the IJA may one day inherit his collection is cool, but not if the IJA has to pay tens of thousands of dollars for it.
Quite frankly, this is exactly the sort of reason why the IJA's expense payments should be open to a sanity check.
