In Part 1 of this series, we looked at very early bounce jugglers, who used both the floor and a wall to do angled bouncing. We also examined Rudy Horn’s bouncing of seven balls off an angled drum and the innovative use of a bounce triangle by Michael Moschen and those who copied him. In this article, we’ll examine other angled ball bouncing innovations.
While Rudy Horn bounced balls off of one angled drum, others have used an entire drum set to bounce balls. Eddy Carello Jr. has a wonderful act that features ball bouncing off of angled drum heads arranged as a drum set.
Tony Garcia is another drum set ball bouncer.
And here are several videos of Andrey Averyushkin with his amazing ball bounce drumming act.
Terry Parhade ended his act with some drum set ball bouncing as well.
Greg Kennedy invented the V-shaped bounce prop that he used in the routine he titled Orthogonal. This act can be seen below.
Numerous jugglers have now copied Greg’s prop and taken its use even further. Let’s look at videos by some of these jugglers.
Kateryna Nikiforova
Tersit Asefa
Abrham Dereje
Binack from Ethiopia
Rauli Katajavuori
John Blanchard
Greg expanded his creation to another dimension, creating an inverted four sided pyramid shape that he called Quadralith. He only performed this act once, but you can see it in the following video.
Greg Kennedy has also created an act with a rotating square that features lots of angled bouncing.
In Part 3, we’ll examine the recent trend of doing angled ball bouncing in multiple planes and directions or using a variety of angled surfaces.
