Dorothy “Dot” Kelley Burdett was born on April 1, 1920, in Kansas, USA, to Bessie Roseanna and Earl Osborn Kelley. She was the second of eight children. She married William David “Small” Burdett on August 19, 1936, in Audubon, Minnesota.

The duo performed together as “The Burdetts.” Dot was a juggler and tightrope walker; she also did antipodism. William David was a tightrope walker, ventriloquist, and dog trainer. The couple traveled throughout the United States in various circuses and fairs, one of them being Jay Gould’s circus.

The couple retired from the stage when William Burdett could not continue touring. They spent their retirement in Plymouth, Illinois. William died on 6 October 1987. Dot was devoted to her family until her death on 2 February 2017.

Del matrimonio nació el dúo The Burdett. Dot fue malabarista y equilibrista; hizo también antipodismo. William David era equilibrista, ventrílocuo y entrenador de perros. La pareja viajó por todo Estados Unidos en varios circos y ferias, uno de ellos fue el circo de Jay Gould.

La pareja se retiró de los escenarios cuando William Burdett no pudo continuar las giras. Pasaron su retiro en Plymouth, Illinois. William murió el 6 de octubre de 1987. Dot se dedicó a su familia hasta su muerte, el 2 de febrero de 2017. Murió a los 96 años.
