The following is an approach to the life of Emma Cotrely. Although it is not complete and finalized, it gives us some lucidity about it.
Emma Cotrely toured America and some European countries. The press loved her and, with small subtitles, praised her. They described her as “the best juggler in the United States,” “the champion,” and “a tightrope walker.”
Her act, according to the press, was that of a female juggler, and included hoop-rolling and baton-swinging techniques. She performed in the company of Antonio Van Gofre, who was apparently her husband.
Van Gofre presented himself as a Hercules athlete, a tightrope walker who performed an act with the technique known as “Iron Jaw.”
