Chair’s message, by Nathan Wakefield
The Holidays are just around the corner, and giving is in the air (as well as the usual balls, clubs, and rings)!
If you’re looking to pick up some props for that special juggler in your life, we’ve got you covered with plenty of great deals through our Vendor Discount Program. IJA members receive a multitude of special discounts from participating vendors. Save money on traditional props, fire/danger gear, and even the entire digitized JUGGLE magazine set. Just stop on over to our Vendor Discount Program page, log in, and check out all the details.
For those who seek to make charitable contributions, we are extremely appreciative for your donations to the IJA, which help us maintain our year-round operations and fund our programs. The IJA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and donations made in the US are deductible on federal tax returns to the extent allowed by law. On our donations page, you can select specific functions you would like to help support, such as our IRC program, where your donation before the end of 2017 may be doubled by a generous donor.
If you shop at Amazon, you can help the IJA by making your purchases at Amazon Smile so that, at no cost to you, Amazon will donate a small percentage of your price to the IJA. Just select the International Jugglers’ Association as your charity the first time you go to smile.amazon.com.
Spending aside, the holidays are about spending time with those you care about. It’s a good opportunity to meet up with old passing partners or reminisce with old festival buddies you may not have spoken with recently. Juggler or not, however, this time of year is a nice reminder to look at the big picture and spend time with those we care about.
Wishing you a Happy Holiday Season,
Nathan Wakefield
IJA Chairman
Your holiday shopping can support the IJA
Your holiday shopping can support the IJA without any extra cost to you. If you buy online from Amazon, a one-time change can benefit the IJA. Simply point your browser at smile.amazon.com. It is exactly the same website, but your first time there you will be asked to select a charity you would like to support. Choose the International Jugglers’ Association from the long list of choices. Ask your friends and family to do so as well. There is no cost to you, but the IJA will get a small percentage of each transaction amount, and that can add up. So it is worth doing. Feel even better about shopping for the holidays!
Also, take advantage of the IJA’s Vendor Discount Program in which prop suppliers offer IJA members a discount as their way of supporting the IJA. Check out the offerings and watch for any special deals. Do you have juggling friends who are not members of the IJA? Please tell them about the Vendor Discount Program, as well as eJuggle exclusive videos and articles for members, to encourage them to join the IJA.
IRC fundraising campaign, by Erin Stephens
This holiday season, we invite you to give towards inspiring the progress of excellence in juggling, uniting the international juggling community, and sharing the awesomeness of juggling with the world – through donating to support the future of the IJA Regional Competitions (IRCs).
The next $7,000 in donations will be matched by our partnering donors!
Best ways to support the IRCs:
- Donate – Because a program is only as awesome as its funding!
- Matching funds – Contribute a matching amount, to match donations made dollar for dollar, up to a specific amount.
- Spread the word – Share the campaign on your social media networks to help us spread the word. The more shares a campaign has, the more likely it is that it will reach its goal!
- Sponsorship – Are you part of, or close to, a corporation that offers sponsorships and/or charitable donations? Encourage them to support the IRCs.
About The IRCs
The IJA Regional Competitions aim to inspire the progress and excellence of juggling, unite the international juggling community, and share the awesomeness of juggling with the world. Donate now to help grow this amazing art form into 2018 and beyond.
Since the beginning in 2011, there have been 19 IJA Regional Competitions in 11 countries. These events have created a ripple effect on the advancement of juggling worldwide, launching the careers of many young jugglers and inspiring the progress of entire regional juggling communities. The funds raised during this campaign will allow the IRCs to grow from 6 competitions in 2017 to 9 in 2018, to be hosted in the countries of: Benin, Taiwan, El Salvador, Mexico, Russia, Afghanistan, Australia, Turkey and Paraguay.
Donor Rewards
To show appreciation for all the donations coming in, we have created three fabulous reward structures for donors. These include:
- Financial Milestone Video Pledges from 30+ jugglers, including Viktor Kee, Jonglissimo, Gena Shvartsman Cristiani, Wes Peden, Paul Ponce, Tuan Le, Svetlana Zueva and many more. See the full list on our IRC fundraising page.
- #JuggleGiving Raffle – Get a chance to win virtual training sessions with some of the best pros in the business, including The Passing Zone, Steven Ragatz, Jay Gilligan and more. Learn about these special prizes in the description on the IRC fundraising page.
- Donate $50 or more to be added to the IRC VIP Facebook Group and get ready to see special behind the scenes footage, interviews and more from the IRCs of 2018.
Any jugglers who donated through Facebook on #GivingTuesday, and want to be added to any of the above awards options, please write to marketing@juggle.org.
No matter how big or small your donation is – it is HUGELY appreciated! Thank you for your #JuggleGiving this holiday season!

Saloon by Cirque Éloize, reviewed by Don Lewis
Last month I wrote that I had seen Cirque Eloize’s show Saloon and enjoyed it a lot. I asked them for some information about the jugging in the show which they have graciously provided. It didn’t make the deadline for last month’s newsletter, so here it is now.
The juggler in the show is Jules Trupin. He has studied widely at circus schools in Europe, most recently at Châlons-en-Champagne. You can read his bio at https://www.cirque-eloize.com/fr/biographies/biographie-jules-trupin/
The show is a non-stop musical that grabs your attention and had a lot of the audience bouncing in their seats to the music. There is a lot of variety on stage considering the small cast, and the transition between acts was very well done. The following photos were provided by Cirque Éloize.
