October: it is a month of terror and horror, a time of strange and extreme rituals, the period of the witches and the dead. The cultures of the world commemorate the month of Halloween with different events. The themes are: death, blood, deformations and all things abnormal. Creativity and innovation are given freedom through costumes for fans of fictional characters. Juggling, as a form of entertainment, does not miss the celebration of Halloween. Below, I will show you some juggling freak shows that have been presented over the years, and some references to horror juggling.
Theater Bizarre is an annual event that has been held at the Detroit Masonic Temple since 2000. It takes place at the end of October. What started as a backyard party, explains Theater Bizarre creative lead John Dunivant, has morphed into a critically acclaimed and popular play. It is called by the fans “The cultural institution.”

Anton Mackman is a comprehensive juggler from the UK. He has been juggling for over 20 years and his versatility helps demonstrate how you create new routines. He was a yoyo champion in 1999, and toured the UK and Europe with Team Yomega. He has performed on the BBC, the Waterford Festival, for Paul McCartney, among others… He has a show only for October.

Esmeralda Spider is no ordinary witch. Her red color and illusions dazzle the spectators. Her crystal ball is an object that hypnotizes anyone who dares to look deep into the sphere. Esmeralda manipulates various objects. Her perfectly matched wardrobe has been flaunting from the start of the show. The Crystal Ball Witch act is available to anyone who wishes to hire it, through the Julia Charles Event Management talent agency.

On her website she gives us a tutorial for juggling monster eyes. The materials can be found easily, they are homemade and recyclable. Due to the success of “The Greatest Showman,” the circus group “The Ultimate Circus Experience” makes a tribute to Taylor Barnum. A show set in the freak circus, with jugglers wearing skull makeup. The show comes equipped with everything a circus show requires.

Chayne Hultgren, known as Space Cowboy, is an artist, performer from Australia. He has 44 world records, endorsed by Guinness Records. His exploits include: swallowing 17 swords in 2009; juggle a sickle, a torch and a machete on a unicycle; juggling three powered chainsaws on top of a unicycle, among others. His abilities are known from “Freak Show,” and his street performances are wanted for the end of October.

Octubre: es del terror y horror; mes de los rituales extraños y extremos; mes de los muertos y de las brujas. Las culturas del mundo conmemoran el mes de Halloween con diferentes eventos. La temática es: muerte, sangre, deformaciones y toda cosa anormal. Se da la libertad a la creatividad e innovación por medio de disfraces para los apasionados de los personajes ficticios. El malabarismo, como forma de entretenimiento, no pasa por alto la celebración de Halloween. A continuación, les mostraré algunos shows “freak” de malabares que han sido presentados a lo largo de estos años, y algunas referencias al malabar de terror.
