Pulso. More than a circus festival.

The Pulso International Circus Festival is the most important circus event in South America. It was created thanks to the efforts of the Peruvian event production company Prodartes in July 2025. Pulso received the Declaration of Cultural Interest this year from the Ministry of Culture of Peru.

The first edition of the Pulso International Circus Festival took place from July 10 to 13, 2025, in Lima. This second edition was held, also from July 10 to 13, 2026, at the La Cúpula de las Artes cultural center in Santiago de Surco, Lima.

Among the more than 20 international artists invited to compete at Pulso were three juggling acts, which stood out within the event’s program.

Chris Aguirre

Chris Aguirre is a juggler from Chile. He is the fifth generation of a family with a long tradition in the circus arts. His father, also a juggler, worked in several renowned circuses, including Golden Circus.

He initially studied automotive mechanics but decided to dedicate himself to the circus, studying it and incorporating new elements into his juggling.

He has performed his show on stages in Asia, South America, North America, and the Middle East. He has also participated in two Cirque du Soleil productions. In 2023, he was recognized as the best Chilean artist abroad.

He also won the bronze medal at the 2024 Santiago Circus Festival and the Critics’ Award at the prestigious Elefant d’Or International Festival in Spain in 2025.

He has participated in important international festivals that have earned him recognition in the circus world, including as a special guest at festivals in Russia, China, and other countries.

Ivanov Duo

The Ivanov Duo consists of Mikhail Ivanov and his wife Aliena Ivanova, both born in Russia. They juggle balls and unicycles (a style known as the ultimate wheel).

The duo combines juggling techniques with the staging of a romantic evening in Paris.

Mikhail and Aliena perform, among other feats, juggling five and six light-up balls on the ultimate wheel; then, they pass seven balls between them.

The Ivanov Duo won the Silver Pulse Trophy at the Pulso International Circus Festival.

Empress Troupe

The Empress Troupe, from Russia, under the direction of juggler Liubov Karsanova, represents the Nikitin Circus on its tours and at circus events. This juggling troupe is known as one of the best in the world today.

Their club-passing technique and the difficulty of their juggling, performed atop structures over 6 meters high, have taken them to various circus festivals, including the Figueres International Circus Festival in Spain in 2014 and the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival in 2015, among others.

The Empress Troupe won the bronze trophy (Pulso de Cobre) at the Pulso Circus Festival. Currently, the juggling group is working on the production “Sueña” by the Great Russian Circus in Peru.

Malabaristas en el Festival Internacional de Circo Pulso – Perú 2026

El Festival Internacional de Circo Pulso es el evento de circo más importante de Sudamérica. Nació gracias a la gestión de la productora de eventos peruana Prodartes en julio de 2025. Pulso logró contar con la Declaratoria Interés Cultural otorgada este año por el Ministerio de Cultura de Perú.

La primera versión del Festival Internacional de Circo Pulso se llevó a cabo del 10 al 13 de julio de 2025 en Lima. Esta segunda versión se realizó, igualmente, entre el 10 al 13 de julio de 2026 en el centro cultural La Cúpula de las Artes, en Santiago de Surco, Lima.

Entre los más de 20 artistas internacionales invitados a competir en Pulso se encuentran 3 actos de malabarismo, los cuales, destacaron dentro de la programación del evento.

A continuación, veremos quiénes fueron los malabaristas en Pulso.

Chris Aguirre

Es un malabarista de Chile. Es la quinta generación de una familia de circo de tradición. Su padre, también malabarista, trabajó en varios circos reconocidos como Golden Circus, entre otros.

Llegó a estudiar mecánica automotriz, pero decidió dedicarse al circo, estudiarlo e incorporarle nuevos elementos a su malabarismo.

Ha presentado su espectáculo en escenarios de Asia, Sudamérica, Norteamérica y Oriente Medio. Además, ha participado en dos producciones de Cirque du Soleil. En 2023, fue reconocido como el mejor artista chileno en el extranjero.

Asimismo, fue ganador de la medalla de bronce en el Festival de Circo de Santiago 2024 y del Premio de la Crítica en el reconocido Festival Internacional Elefant d’Or de España en 2025.

Ha participado en importantes festivales internacionales que le han dado reconocimiento en el mundo del circo, llegando como invitado especial a festivales en Rusia, China, entre otros.

Dúo Ivanov

El dúo Ivanov está compuesto por Mikhail Ivanov y su esposa Aliena Ivanova, nacidos en Rusia. Ambos hacen malabares con balones y monociclo (variedad conocida como ultimate wheel).

El dúo combina la técnica del malabarismo con la puesta en escena de una noche romántica en Paris.

Mikhail y Aliena hacen, entre otras, malabarismo con cinco y seis balones de luces encima del ultimate wheel; luego, realizan pases entre ellos con siente balones.

El dúo Ivanov obtuvo trofeo de plata (Pulso de plata) en el Festival Internacional de Circo Pulso.

Empress troupe

La agrupación Empress Troupe, procedente de Rusia, bajo la dirección de la malabarista Liubov Karsanova, representan al circo ruso Nikitin en sus giras y participaciones en eventos circenses. Esta tropa de malabares es conocida como una de las mejores del mundo en la actualidad.

Su técnica de passing de clavas y la dificultad de la ejecución del malabarismo, el cual hacen encima de unas estructuras a más de 6 metros de altura, los ha llevado a diferentes festivales de circo como el Festival Internacional de Circo de Figueres, España, 2014; Festival Internacional de Circo de Montecarlo en el año 2015, entre otros.

Empress Troupe fueron ganadores del trofeo de bronce (Pulso de cobre) en el Festival de Circo Pulso. Actualmente, el grupo de malabarismo trabaja en la producción Sueña, del Gran Circo de Rusia en Perú.
