Kay Farrelli – The Danish Ice Skating Juggler

Kay Farrelli was a Danish juggler who debuted in the 1930s. He was best known for his ball and mouth stick work, club juggling with 3 and 4 clubs, 5 rings, large ball manipulation, and other balance tricks. He juggled with skeleton clubs he made himself. Below you can see some photos from early in his career.

After juggling in Denmark for 21 years, Kay took his act to the ice. In 1947, he came to the United States to perform in Holiday on Ice. He stayed with the show through 1950, rotating some with Bobby May. He was also with Ice Vogues in 1952 and 1953 and performed in other ice shows until at least 1959. He wore skates and showed the same type of tricks he did on stage. His reviews in the press were always quite positive and jugglers who saw him perform in ice shows also sang his praises. Below are photos from his ice skating days.

Not much is known about Kay Farrelli after the 1950s. He did appear as a juggler in the movie My Fair Lady in 1964 and as a bum in the 1976 movie In MacArthur Park. If you know anything more about Kay Farrelli, please contact me.
