2022 Festival Report (Afton Benson)
Discussion:
Afton: Fest registration is open, people, please share the link. Suggest people to sign up for the scholarship. Unnamed has offered $10,000 in addition for the scholarship. Currently sitting at about ~$800 from members for the scholarship. Registration is how people get the special edition shirts. Still getting special guests, and it’s a bit slow going due to response times. We have a workshop person confirmed. We are currently missing Joggling, as the people who historically organize it cannot be there in person. We are planning to hopefully do it online like last year, and potentially have a place to do it on site as well. We do not sponsor Visas due to capacity and they normally get declined.
Aslynne: I know we have written letters for Visas, is that the same?
Afton: Basically the same thing
Mike: From a historical perspective, I don’t know if people get declined, but I have done it a few times and not heard back.
Afton: Usually just rejected
Mike: There was a Canadian going to the USA who was given a Visa with a letter from the IJA.
Afton: We should probably vote on this type of thing if we are sponsoring peoples’ Visas.
Mike: It’s from an objective (skill verification) perspective that the individual was an excellent juggler, as opposed to personal relationship
Martin: We have over $1,000 donated by members for the scholarship
Financial Report (Afton Benson)
Discussion: Nothing new!
Future Festival Site Report (Mike Sullivan)
Discussion:
Membership (Marilyn Sullivan)
Membership Data
Discussion:
Martin: At the end of March our current way of verifying members on the wordpress site from YM goes away, and YM’s alternative is an API and has been working with NeilFred P. and they are saying it’ll be $1,500. BUT it won’t cost that. We’re working on verifying all the details to ensure it will keep working.
Marketing Report (Matan Presberg)
Discussion:
Matan: Working on onboarding Jorge and Cassie and setting up Standard Operating Procedure. Removing Erin’s name from the marketing report.
Afton: Can you post things for me for the fest?
Matan: Yup.
Martin: Champs registration might be opening soon, can you please post?
Matan: yes!
IRC Report (Erin Stephens)
Discussion:
YJA Report (Galen Harp)
Discussion:
Aslynne: as noted above we’re not voting on the new director tonight, the board is still in talks via email. Benjamin is not included in this as he is looking to be in that position.
OpsO Report (Scott Steiskal)
Discussion:
Scott: Josie does not want to run WJD this year, do we want to recruit a new director or just look for t-shirt design?
Matan: I think it would be best to have a director
Scott: There are a few others who want to move on. We just need to confirm if that’s true so we likely want to put out a call for 3 positions. Scott will draft eNewsletter calls for the end of March.
6. Motions for Consideration

Afton: We do not sell a family festival package
Bill: We just want to make sure the whole family can join the festival
Afton: We generally don’t provide a package to the family. Who are you considering the family?
Bill: The individual is traveling a distance, we don’t expect the individual to come alone.
Scott: How many festival packages would it be?
Bill: For the awardee and one or two parents. Perhaps a day pass
Afton: We are not selecting Flamingo Club Awardee, and Sky King Awardee, we should discuss what the package includes
Bill: We’ll discuss it next week.
Benjamin: Would like to discuss this as a board at the next vision meeting?
Bill: Right Afton and I will talk next week.
Matan: Lets amend the motion to remove the family
Bill: Sounds good
Afton: All awardees are awarded a festival package already.
Martin: We don’t normally give out membership as well
Bill: I would like the board to consider giving out memberships
Martin: We don’t give out memberships for these. We have a policy to not give out memberships
Mike M: Don’t we give out memberships for online competitions etc items like that?
Martin: We give them out as prizes. A membership isn’t required for an awardee.
