Video Tutorial Contest 2013 (4th annual)
I’m starting to get some of the preliminaries together for the 2013 Video Tutorial Contest, which is tentatively scheduled to take place over the course of March. Last year’s judging panel format is here to stay another year, as is the “people’s choice” vote.
For 2013, I’m eager to transition to a new voting system (that is, something other than ballotbin.com!) If you have any voting platform in particular that you’d like me to look in to, please comment below or send me an email – email@example.com . Ideally, I’d like to use something that can handle ranked-pair voting, but I’m open to any suggestions at this point.
Do you have anyone you’d really like to see on this year’s voting panel? Last year, we had performers, sports psychologists, educators and other juggling aficionados from many countries. Who would do you think should have a final vote this year? If you have someone in mind, please comment below or send me an email with your nomination and a few words about why they’d be a good choice. I will seriously consider all suggestions.
Additionally, if you or your company would be interested in sponsoring the 4th Annual Video Tutorial Contest with a donation, please send me an email. We’re always looking for new and exciting prizes to bring more attention to the contest. If you’ve got something you’d like to send our way, let me know! Remember – the International Jugglers’ Association is a federally-registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization – donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
Job Descriptions & Volunteering
In other news, I’m leading a big job description update campaign within the IJA. This will help the organization in several ways, including with the recruitment of new volunteers.
One of the positions we’re looking to fill at the moment is that of Volunteer Coordinator. This individual will help me with the job description update process on the short term, and will help IJA project leaders and administrators recruit new volunteers for specific projects on the long term. The ideal candidate would be an IJA member in good standing, who attends regional and IJA festivals regularly, and who has exceptional interpersonal skills. To view the full job description, please click HERE. If you’re interested in volunteering for this position, please email me directly with your qualifications
Writing for the IJA eZine
eJuggle – the IJA eZine – is always looking for writers. Do you have a story idea? Did you go to a festival and want to submit a review? Some monetary compensation is available for high-quality content.
Don’t have a story idea, but want to volunteer your writing talents? Don’t worry! The eZine team always has articles in mind. (For example, I’d really love to see articles that go in depth about how different companies make different props). Drop the eZine team an email with a short writing sample and your contact information. We’ll be in touch with story pitches as they come up. firstname.lastname@example.org .
That’s all from me for now!
