Product Review: Pocket Clubs and Speevers Modular Clubs

The Museum of Juggling History houses more types of juggling clubs than anywhere or anyone else. There are two modern and current clubs on display that are available to the general juggling public that most jugglers are probably unaware of. They each are quite unique. Let’s take a look at them.

Pocket Clubs

I first saw Pocket Clubs at the 2022 IJA Festival, where they captured a lot of attention. I found that these telescoping, expandable clubs were made by Schell Games and sold on etsy.com. Here is what their online description says about them.

“Pocket Clubs (patent pending) are the world’s only collapsible juggling club! Has the weight and balance of a normal juggling club, but telescopes shut to fit in your pocket! Less than 6″ long collapsed, they extend to 20″ long. They weigh 8 ounces each, just like a normal club. We keep rainbow clubs with black or red knobs and ends in stock, but if you are looking for custom colors, contact us. Clubs are $49 each, but if you order 3 or more, you’ll get a free drawstring bag to hold them.”

They also advertise the following additional warnings and instructions.

• Pocket Clubs are juggling props that are only intended to be used by juggling hobbyists and professionals. Pocket Clubs should not be used by children. They are not toys – they have not been safety tested for children and are not intended for use by children.
• Pocket Clubs could cause personal injury if they are dropped on or hit someone.
• Pocket Clubs should not be dropped on anything but flat surfaces; dropping on other surfaces can damage the tubes which could damage the Pocket Club.
• Avoid immersing Pocket Clubs in water because doing so could damage them.
• Each Pocket Club contains a small magnet. If you have an ICD or pacemaker, ask your doctor before using this product.

Speevers Modular (Modu) Club

Speevers is an Israeli company that sells a variety of innovative products that they manufacture in China. One of these products is their Modular (MODU) club, which features a detachable screw on handle and a body that is covered in velcro so that detachable “skins” can be swapped out to change the look of the club in a very brief time. As you can see below, Speevers offers a wide variety of skins in various designs, colors, and textures.
