The Veko’s

The Veko’s was a group of jugglers from the Netherlands. They started as an artist duo consisting of Jan Van der Veken, known as “John Vekos,” and his wife, Jeanne Van der Veken.

As a child, Jan Van der Veken was very restless. He did acrobatics and could stand on his hands. He was a very strong and agile boy, that’s why he earned the nickname “Jan the Terrible.” Everyone saw him as an excellent acrobat, but his true passion was juggling.

He perfected his circus show and, with the assistance of his wife, Jeanne, was able to climb rapidly in his artistic career, and was renamed “John Vekos.” After a while, Jeanne began to demonstrate juggling skills, immediately the couple formed the legendary duo “The Veko’s.”

The Veko’s performed a complete show: They juggled with clubs, rings, balls; they performed tricks of dissociations like those of Enrico Rastelli, as you can see below.

Jan Van Der Veken and Jeanne Van Der Veken met Muguette Dupré and Cornel Van Hummelen, another duo of jugglers who performed feats similar to those of The Veko’s. They joined to form an extraordinary group “4 Vekos”.

Sometimes, only John Vekos, Jeanne Vekos and Muguette Dupré acted. That trio was called 3 Vekos.

John Vekos performed for 65 years in different theaters and circuses.

The Veko’s

The Veko’s fue un grupo de malabaristas de Países Bajos. Inició con un dúo de artistas conformado por  Jan Van der Veken, conocido como “John Vekos”; y su esposa, Jeanne Van der Veken.

De niño, Jan Van der Veken era muy inquieto. Hacía acrobacias, podía pararse de manos, era un chico muy fuerte y ágil, por eso se ganó el apodo de “Jan el terrible”. Todos lo veían como un excelente acróbata, pero su verdadera pasión fue el malabarismo.

Perfeccionó su show de circo y, con la asistencia de su esposa,  Jeanne, pudo escalar rápidamente en su carrera artística, y pasó a llamarse “John Vekos”. Luego de un tiempo, Jeanne comenzó a demostrar destrezas en el malabarismo, de inmediato la pareja formó el legendario dúo “The Veko’s”.

The Veko’s realizaban un show completo: hacían malabares con clavas, aros, pelotas; ejecutaban trucos de disociaciones como los de Enrico Rastelli, como puedes ver a continuación.

Jan Van Der Veken y Jeanne Van Der Veken conocieron a Muguette Dupré y a Cornel Van Hummelen, otro dúo de malabaristas que realizaban hazañas similares a las de The Veko’s. Se unieron para formar en extraordinario grupo “4 Vekos”.
