From September 11th to 14th, 2025, the fourth Youth Circus and Arts Convention was held in the municipality of Campoalegre, Huila, Colombia, organized by the Zansue collective. It spanned four days where juggling, acrobatics, stilt walking, and other techniques came together to bring circus to communities with limited cultural resources. The convention was attended by national and international artists.

On the first day, the artistic groups selected through a digital call for applications arrived at the convention venue. In the afternoon, a meeting of group directors was held to organize the logistics of the workshops and performances. In the evening, there was a performance by the Ignis Circo Colombia group (juggling, flow arts, fire-eating, and contemporary dance) and by Nemcatacoa Circo Teatro Duitama (juggling, clowning, acrobatics, balancing).

On Friday, September 12, the circus training workshops began at 9:00 a.m. The workshops held on the second day were:

• Turns and Smiles, by Héctor Andrés Perdomo Vergara.
• Introduction to the Diabolo, by Jhon Alexander Ruiz Jiménez.
• Introduction to Juggling, by the Agrupación Semillas de Circo.
• Free Ladder, by Jhoan Sebastian Peñuela.
• “Nuestro Modo” (Our Way), a Social Circus Experience, by Sofía Montoya Salas.
• Fire Is Not a Game; Safety Protocols for Stage Work with Fire, by Ignis Circo Colombia.
• Clowning and Comedy, by Alonso Valderrama Medina and Jhoswar Ruiz.
• Diabolo: An Ancient Art, by the Comunidad Antioqueña de diábolo.
• Body in Suspension, by Karen Ducuara Correa.

In the afternoon, the Volleyclub competition was held, leading to the championship final.

The performances took place in the evening. Approximately 53 artists performed. The groups and artists were:

• Andrágora (dance, aerial silks, hoops, gymnastics and theater).
• Dúo Circulando el Circo (juggling with hoops, clubs and diabolo, acrobatics and swing).
• Grupo de tetatro Amimate (acrobatics on stilts).
• Nemcatacoa Circo Teatro Duitama (juggling, clown, acrobatics, balancing).
• Agrupación Semillero Artístico Huilense (street circus).
• Oromis (aerial silks).
• Willy Sombreros (juggling with hats, cane, contact, clubs).
• Wayna (juggling, stilts, fire).
• Jesús Circo (fire juggling, balancing, swing).
• Agrupación artística y cultural Kinesis (juggling, stilts, arm wrestling and fire).

Other workshops were held on Saturday, September 13th, and the second part of some from the previous day continued. The training workshops began at 9 a.m. and included:

• Fire Is Not a Game; Safety Protocols for Stage Work with Fire, by Ignis Circo Colombia.
• Clowning and Comedy, by Alonso Valderrama Medina and Jhoswar Ruiz.
• Diabolo: An Ancient Art, by the Comunidad Antioqueña de Diábolo.
• Bodies in Suspension, by Karen Ducuara Correa.
• An Approach to Dramaturgy, by Carolina Estupiñán-Wilkin Rojas.
• Beginning Passes with Clubs, by Leonardo Márquez.
• Juggling Method and Introduction to Balance, by Jesús David Moreno Gallego.
• Hats, by William Armando Galeano Torifi.

In the afternoon, the conference “Women in the Circus” was held, with female artists and cultural managers among the guests.

To close out the third day, the following artistic presentations were held, with approximately 42 artists on stage:

• Circo Chiquito from the University of Tolima Cultural Center (juggling with hula hoops, aerial silks, and aerial lyre).
• Comunidad Antioqueña de Diábolo (diabolo).
• Agrupación Artes Creativas (juggling, stilts, acrobatics).
• Mijao Circo Producciones (clown, juggling); Corporación CirTeZa (circus performance).
• Fundación Escuela Circo Para Todos (fixed trapeze, dance, and acrobatic moves).
• Circo Sabana Occidente (club juggling, spinning, rope magic, and free ladder).
• Asociación Cultural Zaltacharcos (stilts, acrobatic juggling, and games).

Juggling and circus competitions took place on Sunday, September 14th, in the morning. Some of the competitions were: diabolo basket, club balance endurance, aerial silks ascent and descent, handstand endurtance, 5-ball endurance, juggling combat, hula hoop combat, stilt endurance, stilt ascent and descent, among others. Later, the Volleyclub final took place.

To close the convention, the following presentations were given: Circo Social Loja (juggling, acrobatics, balancing); Wayak Circus (juggling, acrobatics, highline).

The Youth Circus and Arts Convention focuses on showcasing circus art to young people in areas where cultural offerings are limited. It takes place in a space where socioeconomic conditions are not optimal. The Zansue collective uses the circus as a tool for social transformation.

The residents of Campoalegre will remember images of artists walking through the air from one place to another. of artists exposing their lives by ascending and descending across canvases, of skilled jugglers with clubs, diabolos, balls, torches, and machetes.

The Youth Circus and Arts Convention is an event that will leave a lasting memory.

 

 

Convención juvenil de circo y sus artes – Colombia 2025

Entre el 11 al 14 de septiembre de 2025 se llevó a cabo la cuarta versión de la Convención juvenil de circo y sus artes en el municipio de Campoalegre, Huila, Colombia, organizada por el colectivo Zansue. Fueron 4 días donde el malabarismo, la acrobacia, los zancos, y otras técnicas, se juntaron para llevar el circo a comunidades apartadas de la cultura. A la convención asistieron artistas nacionales e internacionales.

El primer día, jueves 11 de septiembre, llegaron al lugar de la convención (el corregimiento de Otás) las agrupaciones artísticas seleccionadas tras una convocatoria digital. En horas de la tarde, se realizó una reunión de directores de colectivos para organizar la logística de los talleres y espectáculos. En la noche, hubo la presentación del grupo Ignis Circo Colombia (malabarismo, flow arts, pirofagia y danza contemporánea), y de Nemcatacoa Circo Teatro Duitama (malabares, payaso, acrobacia, equilibrios).

El viernes 12 de septiembre se dio inicio a los talleres de formación en circo de manera simultánea a las 9am. Los talleres que se realizaron el segundo día fueron

• Giros y sonrisas, por Héctor Andrés Perdomo Vergara.
• Iniciación al diábolo, por Jhon Alexander Ruiz Jiménez.
• Iniciación al malabar, por agrupación semillas de Circo.
• Free ladder escalera, por Jhoan Sebastian Peñuela.

• Con el fuego no se juega, protocolos de seguridad para trabajo escénico con fuego, por Ignis Circo Colombia.

• Diábolo: arte milenario, por Comunidad Antioqueña de diábolo.
• Cuerpos en suspensión, por Karen Ducuara Correa.

En la tarde se realizó la competencia Volleyclub, donde se llegó a la final del campeonato.

Las presentaciones se llevaron a cabo en la noche. Fueron alrededor de 53 artistas en escena. Las agrupaciones y artistas fueron:

• Grupo de teatro AMIMATE (acrobacias sobre zancos).
• Nemcatacoa Circo Teatro Duitama (malabares, payaso, acrobacia, equilibrios).
• Agrupación Semillero Artístico Huilense (circo de calle).
• Oromis (tela aérea).
• Willy Sombreros (malabarismo con sombreros, bastón, contact, clavas).
• Wayna (malabares, zancos, fuego); Jesús Circo (malabarismo con machetes, fuego, equilibrio, swing).
• Agrupación artística y cultural Kinesis (malabares, zancos, pulsadas y fuego).

El sábado 13 de septiembre se realizaron otros talleres y se continuó con la segunda parte de algunos del día anterior. Igualmente, los talleres de formación iniciaron a las 9am, y fueron

• Método del malabarismo e introducción al equilibrio, por Jesús David Moreno Gallego.
• Sombreros, por William Armando Galeano Torifi.

En la tarde se realizó el conversatorio Las mujeres en el circo, donde las invitadas fueros mujeres artistas y gestoras culturales.

Para cerrar el tercer día se realizaron las siguientes presentaciones artísticas, con alrededor de 42 artistas en escena:

• Circo chiquito del centro cultural de la universidad del Tolima (malabar con hula hulas, tela aérea y lira aérea).
• Comunidad Antioqueña de Diábolo (diábolo).
• Agrupación artística mentes creativas (malabares, zancos, acrobacia).
• Mijao Circo Producciones (payaso, malabares); Corporación CirTeZa (circense).
• Fundación Escuela Circo Para Todos (trapecio fijo, danza y portes acrobáticos).
• Circo Sabana Occidente (malabares con clavas, spinning, magia con cuerdas, y escalera estilo libre “free ladder”).
• Asociación Cultural Zaltacharcos (zancos, malabarismo saltimbanqui y juego).
• Fundación Artística Iscra (malabarismo, rola bola, zancos, fuego).

El domingo 14 de septiembre se llevaron a cabo las competencias de malabares y circo en horas de la mañana. Algunas fueron: encesta el diábolo, resistencia de equilibrio de una clava, ascenso y descenso de la tela, resistencia de parada de manos, resistencia de 5 pelotas, combate malabar, combate de hula hoops, resistencia en un zanco, ascenso y descenso en zancos, entre otras. Más tarde, se realizó la final de Volleyclub.

Para cerrar la convención, se realizaron las siguientes presentaciones: Circo Social Loja (malabarismo, acrobacia, equilibrios); Wayak Circo (malabarismo, pulsadas acrobáticas, acrobacia, highline en las alturas).

La Convención juvenil de circo y sus artes tiene como enfoque poder mostrar el arte del circo a jóvenes en territorios donde la oferta cultural es limitada. Se realiza en un espacio donde las condiciones socioeconómicas no son las óptimas. El colectivo Zansue utiliza el circo como herramienta de transformación social.

Los habitantes de Campoalegre tendrán en sus memorias las imágenes de artistas caminando por los aires de un lugar a otro; de artistas exponiendo su vida ascendiendo y descendiendo por telas, de habilidosos malabaristas con clavas, diábolos, pelotas, antorchas y machetes…

La Convención juvenil de circo y sus artes es un evento que deja memoria.
